One Month!!

I can hardly believe that our due date is in only ONE MONTH! Time has flown by! We had our last biweekly doctor's appointment yesterday. Next week, we start going every week. Everything checked out great. I suppose things are starting to progress a little. I am 75% effaced and a loose 1 cm dilated (whatever that means). The doctor said that we most likely still have a few weeks to go. Sawyer's heartbeat was good and strong. He is measuring right on track at 36 weeks. Can't wait to meet our baby boy! I think we are ready to go when he decides he is ready. We finished up checking things off the to-do list last weekend. We got a few items returned and exchanged for other things we needed. The hospital bag is packed and so are our diaper bags. Will installed the car seat bases in our cars. We have the pack n' play and swing put together in the living room. Will's dad cleaned up and repainted the bassinet that his father and subsequent generations have slept in. We brought it home and got it set up in our room. I'm so glad that we are able to use this piece of Will's family heritage and tradition!

We purchased the material (navy with white polka dots) for the pillow shams and curtains. They are being made now, I hope they are ready in time for Sawyer's arrival. Although, I suppose he won't know the difference if they aren't ready or not. All in all, I think we have everything ready and organized. It's just a waiting game now.

In other news, two weekends ago we traveled to Atlanta to attend a friend's wedding. The ceremony was beautiful and the reception was fun! I am glad the we decided to go. The car ride was not as uncomfortable as I thought it would be- I had stuffed pillows all around me.

Congrats Bob and Katie!
Update on Will's brother Andy: Yesterday he had his dialysis port put in. He will meeting with his doctor's and learning how to use his port to do dialysis at home. He will start dialysis sometime soonish I believe. He is in good spirits and feels well. Thanks for all of your thoughts and prayers for him and the family.

Otherwise, we are just working and trucking along waiting for Sawyer's arrival! We will have to miss my family's annual trip down to the low country this weekend for Memorial Day. I have been advised not to travel and certainly not to get on the boat out in the middle of nowhere. We do hope to get down to the beach sometime this summer though.

Hope everyone has a great week! We will keep you informed of baby news and updates.

Playing Catch-Up

We have had a busy past couple of weeks/weekends. Things are going great...just busy!! For starters, we had a wonderful time down in Charleston and at the Isle of Palms. It was nice to get away for a few days. We came back in to town on Saturday for Will's brother's engagement party. It was a nice event with family and friends of the bride and groom. I'm glad we came home to go to it. Last week, I had a fabulous baby shower given by my wonderful co-workers. They were all so thoughtful and generous. Sawyer is one lucky little boy!

We did have a little bit of a downer the middle of the week last week. Will's brother Andy had a eye infection and went to the ER to get it checked out. While doing blood work, the doctors discovered that his kidneys were not doing well. It turns out that he has kidney disease and is in stage 5 kidney failure. He is good spirits and was released from the hospital on Sunday with a plan to start dialysis and eventually have a kidney transplant. Please keep him and the Tevepaugh family in your prayers.

On Saturday, Will's mom, sister, and family friend Jennifer hosted a baby shower for me and Sawyer. I think the shower was a great distraction from all of the worry over Andy the last week. It turned out to be a great event. Seeing some of Will's aunts and cousins was really nice.

Saturday evening, Will was gone to a meeting and I got a wild hair to put together a closet organizer shelf and start to organize baby stuff. I think I probably over did it with all of my activity. I finally laid down on the couch to rest, and decided to let Will know that I was not feeling great. He headed home and I talked to the doctor on call. She told me to keep my feet up and drink plenty of water. After about 20-30 minutes, I was calmed down and started feeling better. I know from now on that I need to take it easy and not try to do so much at one.
On Sunday, Will was called in to work, so I was home alone again. He warned me to take it easy. I did have some things that I wanted to get done, so I did them little by little. I got all of the baby gifts unpacked and sorted. I washed baby clothes, sheets, towels, and blankets. I feel like I got alot done without over doing it. There are few things that still need to be done in the nursery: a shelf needs to be hung over the changing table and pillow shams and curtains need to be made. I have picked out the fabric for the shams and curtains. I am going with a navy blue and white polka dot fabric with red ric rac as a border. I can't wait to see them when they are made.
This weekend coming up, we are going to Atlanta for a friend's wedding. We got the all-clear to travel from the doctor at yesterday's appt. I think the hardest part will be riding in the car. I plan on bringing several pillows to prop with so that I can be comfortable. It should be a good time with friends!

On Saturday, I also had the opportunity to attend a baby shower for a friend of mine. Unfortunately it was right before my shower, so I wasn't able to stay the whole time.
Baby Will and Sawyer will be close in age and hopefully best buddies like their daddies are!

I am definitely looking forward to the end of the week...only a three day work week for me! Will and I are headed down to Charleston/Isle of Palms for an extra long weekend!

April Showers!

This past weekend was a wonderful weekend! Friday night was pretty low-key but enjoyable. I got up early on Saturday to work at the Junior League of Columbia's Touch a Truck event. The event was held at the State Farmer's Market. We had a huge shed filled with all kinds of trucks and machinery that children could climb in and touch. I was there pretty much all day. Afterwards, I went home and took a much needed nap. Will and I went out for our anniversary dinner Saturday night. We dined at Rosso Trattoria Italia. We had a delicious meal and quality time together. I have a feeling these date nights are going to be few and far between when Sawyer gets here. I hope that we can still have them every once in a while to stay connected. Sunday was also a busy day. I had my first baby shower! My dear friend Blair and her mother hosted the lovely event. The food was delicious and the company was fabulous! They definitely outdid themselves with their generosity. Thanks to all of the guests, Sawyer is one blessed little boy!

We ended the day on Sunday by going to the Merle Haggard concert at the Township Auditorium. We had originally planned to go to the concert back in January, but it was cancelled and rescheduled for April. We met up with friends at Wild Wings and then headed over to the show. I don't know much about Merle Haggard music, but it was a great concert.
This weekend coming up, I have another baby shower on Saturday (hosted by my sisters, aunt Susan, aunt Camille, and family friend Becky). I will also be attending a baby shower for one of Will's college friends. She is due around Memorial Day. Our little boys are sure to be best buddies!
Looking ahead to the following week/weekend- Will and I are headed down to the Isle of Palms for some much needed R & R. Will will be attending meetings on Thursday and Friday. I will be hanging out at the beach house/Charleston with some girlfriends.

2nd Anniversary

Today is me and Will's second wedding anniversary! I can't believe how fast these last two years have flown by, much less the five years that we have been together. We are celebrating tonight by going to our second childbirth class. Sounds like fun, I know. We also had our regular two week check up this morning. Everything is looking good! I go in tomorrow for my 3 hour glucose test...not looking forward to that! We will be celebrating our anniversary with a nice dinner out on Saturday night. Last night we had our fun little anniversary dinner at Pizza Joint. Somehow we ended up there last year on our first anniversary, so we thought we might as well go again this year and make it a tradition. Next year will be a whole different ballgame with Sawyer here with us. I'm sure we still go out and have a nice meal. I bet his grandparents would love to watch him for us!

Easter Sunday

Will and I spent Easter Sunday with both of our families. We started off at church with my family, followed by a yummy afternoon meal. We had a little bit of down time to watch The Masters before heading over to Will's parent's house for dinner and game night. Although it was a busy day, we took time to remember why we celebrate Easter and what the day really is all about.

Friday "Baby Brain" Dump

Happy Friday!!!

1. I am now 29 weeks pregnant and in my third trimester. Where has the time gone? It feels like it has flown by. We will be meeting our sweet Sawyer before we know it (10ish weeks!).

2. My doctor's appointments are now scheduled for every 2 weeks. I really like going to these appointments to get checked and listen to Sawyer's heartbeat. It reassures me that everything is ok.

3. Sunday night, I was having some pain on my right side, it has been happening off and now for a while now. It was feeling worse then, and I was getting no relief from anything I tried. I called the doctor on call and she told me to call back in the morning and make an appointment. I went in on Monday and all of my symptoms pointed to gallbladder issues. They set me up to go in Tuesday morning to do an ultrasound of my gallbladder. No stones were found, but there me be some inflammation. They upped my heartburn meds to Nexium (instead of OTC Zantac) and put me on a bland diet. So far so good, I have noticed the pain has definitely dulled and is not nearly as bad after meals. Hopefully, we will be good to go for the next several weeks.

4. Another small bump in the road is my glucose test results. I took the 1 hr. glucose test a couple of weeks back and my levels came back high. They have scheduled me for the 3 hr. test next week. Apparently, it is not uncommon to fail the first test and pass the second. I guess we shall see! I currently have no symptoms of gestational diabetes. My first and second trimesters went by relatively easy, so I reckon these bumps in the road are due. Hopefully we won't have anymore.

5. Nursery update: Everything is just about done in the nursery. We finally found a bedside table and Will and his dad stained it last weekend. I still need to get material for pillow shams and curtains. The last project that Will and his dad are working on is the bassinet. The bassinet we have is one that Will's grandfather slept in. It is in need of a few small repairs, a good cleaning, a fresh coat of paint, and a new cushion/pad. I think it is so neat that Sawyer will get to sleep in the same bed his great-grandfather slept in. The bassinet will stay in our bedroom for him to use his first few weeks. Sawyer has already collected quite a wardrobe as well. I have been to a few consignment sales and loaded up on low price items. All of these clothes still need to be washed and put away. That reminds me of another project: lining the drawers in the dresser.

6. I am so looking forward to our baby showers. Generous family, friends, and coworkers are already loving our sweet boy! I can't wait for the showers to celebrate him and his upcoming arrival! One of my dear friends and her mother are hosting a shower on April 15th. My Aunt Susan and Aunt Camille, along with my sisters and a family friend, are hosting a shower on April 21st. My coworkers are hosting one on May 1st. Finally, Will's mom, sister, and family friend are hosting one on May 5th. We are truly blessed by all of the generosity and love!

7. I am definitely feeling the so-called "Baby Brain." I have been a little forgetful lately. Some things that used to be automatic aren't anymore. I am finding that I am having to stop and think more often. I have also been a little clumsy. My balance is definitely not what it used to be.

8. Sawyer has tricks! I have been feeling a lot more movement from our little guy lately. He is the most active early in the morning (5-6 am), after lunch (2-3), and in the evenings (7-8). He will response to pokes and nudges if he is being playful. He also responds to music. Will will play music on his cell phone and rest it on my belly. Sawyer will often tap the phone and make it move. The feeling is incredible! I think this is one thing I am going to miss about being pregnant. I love feeling him move, even if it does wake me up super early in the morning.

9. In non-baby-related news, I am looking forward to our trip to Charleston/Isle of Palms at the end of the month. Will has a meeting to attend on Thursday and Friday in Charleston. We are going down Wednesday evening after work and staying until Saturday. I am looking forward to a couple of days off of work and relaxing at the beach. We are staying at friends' beach house at the Isle of Palms. They will be down there as well, so it should be a good time! I always love spending time with friends, especially on mini-vacations!.

I think that's it for now. I just wanted to jot all of these things down, so I don't forget them. This time in our lives is going by so quickly, and I know that I will want to look back and remember how I was feeling and what all was going on.

Hope you have a great Easter weekend!!
