Sawyer's First Week:
We spent 3 nights in the hospital and went home on Sunday, the 17th. Our first night at home went fairly well. He was up every 3ish hours to nurse. He is not a fussy baby and goes right back to sleep after each feeding. We had an appointment with his pediatrician on Monday to check on his bilirubin levels because they were a little elevated on Sunday. His levels had gone down...no jaundice! However, his weight had dropped to 6 lbs 1 oz. That concerned his doctor a little because it was quite a significant weight loss. We were encouraged to call the lactation specialist and made a follow up appointment for Wednesday. On Tuesday, we met with the lactation specialist to get some nursing tips and assistance. She checked Sawyer's bilirubin levels again (they had gone down more) and weighed him. He was 6 lbs 4 oz, so he had gained some weight from Monday. His weight gain was attributed to my milk coming in. He was definitely eating better. We had our follow up appointment with the ped on Wednesday. He was comfortable with the bilirubin levels from Tuesday, so we no longer needed to be concerned about that. Sawyer's had also gained more weight- 6 lbs 7 oz. He checked out well and we made our appointment for his 2 week check up. Will was home from work all week. We spent time bonding as a family. It was a wonderful week!!
Sawyer's Second Week:
Will has gone back to work this week. We miss him terribly during the day. Sawyer and I are working on establishing some sort of routine. My mom was here with us on Monday and Tuesday. She is out of town the rest of the week until Friday. Wednesday, I had my two week check up at my doctor's office. I am healing well and was cleared to drive. Now, we won't be stuck at home during the day. I go back to the doctor in a month for my six week check up. Sawyer had his two week check up today. His weight is looking great! He weighed 7 lbs 3 oz. He is a great eater! He eats about every 2-3 hours during the day and 3-4 hours during the night. He will see his doctor in six weeks for his eight week check up. Will and I are loving our sweet boy!! He really is a good baby...not too fussy!! I can't believe it has already been two weeks since he was born. The time has flown by!
