Memorial Day Weekend

Will and I spent a nice relaxing long weekend at home. We normally go down to the coast with my family every year, but we all decided that I should stay home this year. With Tropical Storm Beryl moving into the area, it looks like we didn't miss much.
I got off work early on Friday, after our staff Beaufort Stew cookout. Will and I had dinner out at Vella's...yummy as usual, and called it an early night.
Saturday morning, we were up pretty early (I am not really sleeping very comfortably for the last part of the night). We had breakfast then headed to our neighborhood pool to catch some rays. The pool water was still pretty chilly, but after sitting out in the sun for awhile, it was very refreshing! I felt so relaxed and weightless in the water. I felt like a ton of bricks once I was back on land. I will definitely be going back this weekend! Saturday night we had dinner plans with Will's college friends. They had been floating down the river that afternoon to celebrate Derrick's birthday (another trip we didn't make). We met up with them at Casa Linda's where the boys proceeded to drink one of those ginormous towers of beer. Needless to say, we all had a great time.
Before leaving dinner, we made plans to meet up with the group again for brunch on Sunday. We went to Le Peep. I had never been but the rest of the gang go pretty regularly. I had delicious french toast. You should see the size of their breakfast burritos! After brunch we stayed out at the Village at Sandhill and did a little browsing/shopping at Academy Sports. It was definitely nap time by the time we got back home. I was very uncomfortable for most of the afternoon. Sawyer must have been in a funky position. Sunday night, we went back out to the Village at Sandhill and had dinner with my dad at Miyos, another yummy meal.
Will and I were both off of work on Monday for Memorial Day. I was up early again, as usual. We had made plans to go to a matinee movie date (the weather was a little iffy). We went to see What to Expect When You are Expecting. I knew it would be a cute movie. I think Will was a little hesitant, but he ended up enjoying it as well. We spent part of the afternoon over at his parent's house. Then it was nap time again!! After resting for a bit, we went to visit my parents who had returned from the coast.
Today it was back to the grind at work. I had my weekly doctor's appt today as well. Everything is looking good. I am dilated a little more this week, between 2-3 cm. My doctor says that I am favorable for induction at 39 weeks, which is about 2 weeks away! However, she also said we may not make it that long. The nurse is suppose to call me with an induction date just in case we make it to 39 weeks. We shall see! We can't wait to meet our baby boy!!! Our next appt is Monday, so we will get a progress report then. Stay tuned....

One Month!!

I can hardly believe that our due date is in only ONE MONTH! Time has flown by! We had our last biweekly doctor's appointment yesterday. Next week, we start going every week. Everything checked out great. I suppose things are starting to progress a little. I am 75% effaced and a loose 1 cm dilated (whatever that means). The doctor said that we most likely still have a few weeks to go. Sawyer's heartbeat was good and strong. He is measuring right on track at 36 weeks. Can't wait to meet our baby boy! I think we are ready to go when he decides he is ready. We finished up checking things off the to-do list last weekend. We got a few items returned and exchanged for other things we needed. The hospital bag is packed and so are our diaper bags. Will installed the car seat bases in our cars. We have the pack n' play and swing put together in the living room. Will's dad cleaned up and repainted the bassinet that his father and subsequent generations have slept in. We brought it home and got it set up in our room. I'm so glad that we are able to use this piece of Will's family heritage and tradition!

We purchased the material (navy with white polka dots) for the pillow shams and curtains. They are being made now, I hope they are ready in time for Sawyer's arrival. Although, I suppose he won't know the difference if they aren't ready or not. All in all, I think we have everything ready and organized. It's just a waiting game now.

In other news, two weekends ago we traveled to Atlanta to attend a friend's wedding. The ceremony was beautiful and the reception was fun! I am glad the we decided to go. The car ride was not as uncomfortable as I thought it would be- I had stuffed pillows all around me.

Congrats Bob and Katie!
Update on Will's brother Andy: Yesterday he had his dialysis port put in. He will meeting with his doctor's and learning how to use his port to do dialysis at home. He will start dialysis sometime soonish I believe. He is in good spirits and feels well. Thanks for all of your thoughts and prayers for him and the family.

Otherwise, we are just working and trucking along waiting for Sawyer's arrival! We will have to miss my family's annual trip down to the low country this weekend for Memorial Day. I have been advised not to travel and certainly not to get on the boat out in the middle of nowhere. We do hope to get down to the beach sometime this summer though.

Hope everyone has a great week! We will keep you informed of baby news and updates.

Playing Catch-Up

We have had a busy past couple of weeks/weekends. Things are going great...just busy!! For starters, we had a wonderful time down in Charleston and at the Isle of Palms. It was nice to get away for a few days. We came back in to town on Saturday for Will's brother's engagement party. It was a nice event with family and friends of the bride and groom. I'm glad we came home to go to it. Last week, I had a fabulous baby shower given by my wonderful co-workers. They were all so thoughtful and generous. Sawyer is one lucky little boy!

We did have a little bit of a downer the middle of the week last week. Will's brother Andy had a eye infection and went to the ER to get it checked out. While doing blood work, the doctors discovered that his kidneys were not doing well. It turns out that he has kidney disease and is in stage 5 kidney failure. He is good spirits and was released from the hospital on Sunday with a plan to start dialysis and eventually have a kidney transplant. Please keep him and the Tevepaugh family in your prayers.

On Saturday, Will's mom, sister, and family friend Jennifer hosted a baby shower for me and Sawyer. I think the shower was a great distraction from all of the worry over Andy the last week. It turned out to be a great event. Seeing some of Will's aunts and cousins was really nice.

Saturday evening, Will was gone to a meeting and I got a wild hair to put together a closet organizer shelf and start to organize baby stuff. I think I probably over did it with all of my activity. I finally laid down on the couch to rest, and decided to let Will know that I was not feeling great. He headed home and I talked to the doctor on call. She told me to keep my feet up and drink plenty of water. After about 20-30 minutes, I was calmed down and started feeling better. I know from now on that I need to take it easy and not try to do so much at one.
On Sunday, Will was called in to work, so I was home alone again. He warned me to take it easy. I did have some things that I wanted to get done, so I did them little by little. I got all of the baby gifts unpacked and sorted. I washed baby clothes, sheets, towels, and blankets. I feel like I got alot done without over doing it. There are few things that still need to be done in the nursery: a shelf needs to be hung over the changing table and pillow shams and curtains need to be made. I have picked out the fabric for the shams and curtains. I am going with a navy blue and white polka dot fabric with red ric rac as a border. I can't wait to see them when they are made.
This weekend coming up, we are going to Atlanta for a friend's wedding. We got the all-clear to travel from the doctor at yesterday's appt. I think the hardest part will be riding in the car. I plan on bringing several pillows to prop with so that I can be comfortable. It should be a good time with friends!
