Sick Week Update

This week has been the longest sick week we have had with our boy. In his 9 months of life, this has been the sickest he has been. We started the week off at the pediatrician's office first thing Monday morning. Sawyer was diagnosed with an ear infection and RSV, a respiratory virus. His case was not a very severe case, which is good. He had one breathing treatment at the doctor's office, which didn't really help, so we didn't bring the nebulizer home with us. He also got an antibiotic for his ear infection. Monday was rough! Sawyer coughed all night. We ended up in his bathroom with the hot shower going full blast. The steam seemed to help. I took him back to the ped Tuesday morning for a follow-up appt. I thought he sounded worse, and was wheezing more. Dr. B. actually said he sounded better. At this point, Sawyer wouldn't hardly eat anything and would barely finish his bottles. Tuesday night was much better, he slept all night without coughing. He also hasn't had any fever since Tuesday morning. Wednesday was a good day, as well.  He coughed a good bit when he first got up and moving, but ate a little more and drank his bottles. Thursday, we saw more improvements and less coughing. He slept well Wednesday and Thursday nights. Today, he seemed really good when he woke up, with even less coughing! I think we are definitely on the up-swing of this bug! I think by the end of the weekend, he will be good to go! He has had to stay away from his Nana's house this week because we didn't want to get Kole sick. Will and I took turns staying with him, and my mom kept him a few days. We are so thankful to have our parents in town! I don't know what we would do without them and their help. Sawyer is one lucky little boy!!

We surely are ready for the weekend and some much needed rest! The weather is supposed to be chilly and rainy, so that sounds like good nap times for us! We don't really have any plans, other than a baby shower for a friend on Sunday afternoon. Our church is also hosting an Easter Egg Hunt Sunday afternoon for the kiddos, but I don't think we are going to go this year. For one thing, it might be raining, and also, Sawyer won't have a clue what to do. I think next year, he will have a great time looking for eggs! For Easter, we plan on going to church with my family, then having lunch with them. We will go over to Will's parent's house and have dinner with his family. Hopefully the weather will cooperate and we will all be well!

St. Patty's Weekend 2013

We started the weekend off on Friday with Sawyer's 9 month check up. He is growing up just perfect! He started having a cough on Thursday, so I asked Dr. B. about it at the well visit. He said everything looked fine, and just to watch him. Well, he progressively got worse through out the weekend. However, we did manage to have a little fun despite the sickly boy. Friday night, we went and had a yummy dinner at Henry's with Sawyer's Godmama Blair. We sat outside and enjoyed the lovely weather. Saturday, Sawyer and I got up early and went to a consignment sale while Daddy worked. We also baked cupcakes for Aunt Brittany's bridal shower. We skipped church Sunday morning, because Sawyer wasn't feeling great and running a fever. We rested up and got ready for the bridal shower. Sawyer and I went to to hang out with the ladies, while Daddy and the guys went to Ale House. We had a great time at the shower. Towards the end, you could tell Sawyer really wasn't feeling great and was coughing a good bit. I think he had fever then too. Also, Saturday afternoon/evening, he wasn't interested in eating or drinking his bottle, that had me concerned. So, this morning, we went to see Dr. B. again! It turns out that Sawyer has an ear infection and RSV! We got an antibiotic for his ears and did a breathing treatment to help with his wheezing. We are suppose to stick it and hopeful recover soon! If not, we are to go back to Dr. B. Wednesday or Thursday of this week. Sawyer is not to be around other children for the rest of the week, because RSV it very contagious. He stayed with my mom and Will this afternoon, I will stay home with him tomorrow, he will stay with my mom Wednesday and Friday, and Will on Thursday. Normally he goes to his Nana's house, but he can't because of the risk of Kole getting sick. Hopefully the boy will be alright by the weekend!

** Update:
We ended up back at the pediatrician's office on Tuesday morning. Sawyer had a rough night Monday night, and I was concerned. He was still wheezing a good bit and coughing alot! He didn't have any fever though. Dr. B. checked him out and said that he actually sounded better than he did on Monday. He thought the coughing was helping all of the gunk in his chest break up. So, we are to continue to monitor him, and if he isn't significantly better by Friday, we are to bring him back in. Last night was actually very restful. Sawyer didn't have any coughing fits, so we all got some sleep. He was coughing a bit this morning though, after he was up and moving around. We will see how the day goes....he is staying with my mom today and Friday, and Will will stay home with him tomorrow. Hopefully he will be ready to go back to his Nana's house next week!

9 Months!

Yesterday was Sawyer's 9 month birthday! Seriously?!? How has he gotten so big so fast?

9 month stats & facts:

* Weight: 19 lbs 14 oz
* Length: 27 3/4 in.
* Wearing 9 month clothes
* Wearing size 3 diapers
* Bottles: 7 am (8 oz), 1 pm (8 oz), and 7:30 pm (8 oz)
* Naps: He usually sleeps a total of 3-4 hours during the day
* Nighttime sleep: Sawyer goes to bed around 8 pm and sleeps until 6:30 or 7 am.
* Breakfast: He has baby oatmeal and a jar fruit, applesauce, or yogurt (8:30 am)
* Lunch, He has rice cereal and a jar veggie (11:30 am)
* Dinner, He has rice cereal and a jar veggie or chicken dinner, or diced table food (5:30 or 6 pm)
* Table food: Sawyer has started eating smashed bananas, avocado, sweet potatoes, lima beans, green beans, diced carrots, diced pears and peaches, and tiny bits of chicken. He usually has these in place of jar food for dinner. He has also had tiny bites of bready food, like pizza crust, bread, and pancakes. The boy loves to eat! He will pretty much eat whatever we put in front of him.
* Snacks: Gerber puffs, Baby Mum Mums, yogurt melts, diced fruit, plain Cheerios
* Sippy Cup: We have introduced Sawyer to the cup. He mostly chews on it and plays with it, but when we hold it for him to drink, he will. He is definitely getting better at it!
* Sawyer has 8 teeth! 4 on the bottom and 4 on the top! He seems to be chewing on anything and everything lately...might be working on more teeth!
* Really trying hard to crawl!! He will scoot, flip, roll, or lunge forward to get whatever he wants, esp. cell phones and remote controls!
* He loves playing on the floor and bed. He will play in the exersaucer or johnny jump up for shorter amounts of time, he doesn't want to be confined.
* Sawyer still sucks his index and middle fingers on his right hand, esp. when he is tired! He loves his lovies. He usually only has them in his crib, but sometimes he hangs on to it while being lifted out of the crib.

* Speaking of the crib, we have lowered it down one level. We still have one to go, and I'm sure it won't be long before he is pulling up! As of now, he will stand holding on to the edge, but can't  pull himself up yet.

Speaking of my big boy... his first birthday will be here before we know it! I have already started the wheels churning on ideas for his party. We are planning a small party with immediate family and close friends.

Such a Big Boy!

All of the sudden, my almost 9 month old son seems like a big boy, and not a baby anymore! We went to the pediatrician last week to check-up on Mr. Sawyer and the high fever he had been experiencing. Dr. B. checked him out and said it was just viral. After a couple of days of Tylenol/Motrin, we had the fever down for good. He weighed in at 18 lbs 10 oz! Nothing slows Sawyer down when it comes to his bottles and meal times. This boy loves to eat!! While at the office, I mentioned Sawyer's love of food. We were given the go-ahead to introduce more table food into his diet. We started off at lunch on Saturday by giving him small bites of our own lunches (ie. mashed potatoes and gravy, grilled cheese, french fries, lima beans). He loved every bit of it!! Sunday night, we planned a healthy, Sawyer-friendly family meal. We sauteed chicken and zucchini, and cooked quinoa. We cooked Sawyer's zucchini very plain with only a touch of olive oil. He had that cut up in small bits along with diced pears. He could not shovel it into his mouth fast enough! So proud of him for trying and loving new foods, and for learning to feed himself. I even got Will to eat some of the zucchini ;) He said if Sawyer was going to eat it, so would he!

If those pictures aren't adorable enough...check out this video of my sweet, big boy eating his dinner!

Stay tuned next week for Sawyer's 9 month update! My, my time flies....
