Busy Bees

Our little family, especially me, has been very busy the last few weeks. Let's see where we left off....
Two weekends ago, President's Day weekend, we went to the mountains with our church family for our annual parish weekend. We had a wonderful time! Sawyer travels so well and is so fun to be around! We stayed in a cabin with four other families, and 7 kids all under 5 years old! It was chaotic at times, but oh so much fun!! We even got a little bit of snow...it snowed hard for a few hours, but was melted a short time later :(

On our way home from the mountains, we stopped by Will's parents to pick up Scotch and have a quick visit with Will's grandparents who were in town. It was so nice to see them!

Monday was a bonus day for us...President's Day off of work! Will took the day off also, and we decided to have a family fun day at the Riverbanks Zoo. Sawyer had been to the zoo twice before, for the Boo at the Zoo and Lights Before Christmas. This was his first daytime trip. He really enjoyed the aquarium and penguins. I think the other animals were too far away in their enclosures.

I have also been extremely busy at work. I am still at my same job, but I have changed positions. I have some new added responsibilities that take up a good bit of my time during the day, hence the lake of blogging ;) All good things, but just a bit of an adjustment.
This past weekend, we didn't really have much planned which was nice. Will worked all day Saturday, so Sawyer and I hung out at the house and visited with my mom and sister. Sunday afternoon, we went over to Will's cousin Susan's house for a cook-out honoring her son Daniel for his birthday and going away party. He is going to study in Sydney, Australia! Sawyer got to play with cousins Maggie and Reilly too!

My 8 Month Old Valentine!!

Today is Valentine's Day...it is also Sawyer's 8 month birthday!! I am so lucky to have my two special boys to share this sweet day with.

I will start with a recap from last weekend... We spent a good bit of Saturday at Kole Varn's 2nd birthday party. Kole and Sawyer stay together at with Will's mom during the week, so they are best buddies! Kole's party was a train theme....so much fun!

Sawyer's 8 month stats and facts:

* Weight: around 18 pounds I think- we haven't been to the doc in a while, thank goodness! We won't go back until his 9 month check up unless he is sick.
* Length: probably close to 28 inches
* Wearing size 6 month clothes, and some 9 month shirts
* Wearing size 2 diapers, size 3 during the night
* Bottles: 7 am (8 oz), 1 pm (8 oz), and 7:30 pm (8 oz)
* Naps: He usually sleeps a total of 3-4 hours during the day
* Nighttime sleep: Sawyer goes to bed around 8 pm and sleeps until 6:30 or 7 am.
* Breakfast, he has baby oatmeal and a whole Stage 1 (or half a Stage 2) fruit (8:30 am)
* Lunch, he has rice cereal with either a fruit or vegetable.
* Dinner, he has rice cereal and a Stage 1 (or half a Stage 2) vegetable (5:30 pm)
* Table food: Sawyer has started eating mashed bananas, avocado  sweet potatoes, and lima beans. He usually has these in place of jar food for dinner. He has also had tiny bites of bready food, like pizza crust, bread, and pancakes. We have not introduced him to meat yet, we will probably wait until 9 months.
* Snacks: Sawyer has Gerber puffs or Baby Mum Mums for snack.
* Sippy Cup: We have introduced Sawyer to the cup. He mostly chews on it and plays with it, but when we hold it for him to drink, he will.
* Sawyer now has 8 teeth! 4 on the bottom and 4 on the top!
* Sits well on his own. He will flip onto his belly to reach whatever he is after. He turns side to side and also scoots backwards. I bet it won't be too long before he starts crawling!
* Loves playing in the exersaucer, johnny jump up, and playing on the floor with his toys.
* Sucks the index and middle fingers of his right hand upside down.
* He loves his lovies! He rubs them on his face while falling asleep.

This weekend, we are getting away to the mountains of NC for our annual church family retreat. We are so looking forward to getting out of town for the weekend. We will be staying in a cabin with several other families with small kids. It should be a blast! I have been keeping an eye on the weather forecast...looks like we might have a small chance of snow on Saturday! I am also looking forward to having Monday off of work for President's Day. I love long weekends, especially after being out of town. It is nice to have a day to recover and get everything back in order!

Sunday Funday

Last night, we spent the evening with friends watching the Super Bowl. The group has dramatically changed from couples to families with kiddos. What fun times! So glad that Sawyer has a bunch of buddies to grow up with!

7.5 Months and a New Schedule

Sawyer was showing signs of wanting to eat more, so we decided to add lunch to his schedule. This boy loves to eat! We also dropped his mid-morning bottle. He is growing up so fast!!

New Schedule (as of last Saturday 1-26-13)
6:45 or 7 am: 8 oz bottle
8:30 am: Breakfast (1/2 jar Stage 2 fruit with oatmeal)
9-11 am: Nap/Playtime
11:30 am: Lunch (1/2 jar Stage 2 veggie with rice cereal)
11:45-1: Nap/Playtime
1:00 pm: 8 oz bottle
1:15-3 pm- Nap/Playtime
3:00 pm: Snack (puffs or Baby Mum-Mums)
3:30-5:30 pm: Nap/Playtime
5:30 pm: Dinner (1/2 jar Stage 2 veggie with rice cereal, and sometimes part of a banana mashed)
5:45-7:30 pm: Nap/Play/Bath
7:30 pm: 8 oz bottle
8:00 pm: Bedtime (sleeps until 6:30 or 7 am)

Before too long, we will probably increase his food to a whole container of Stage 2 fruit and veggies for breakfast and lunch. I will also introduce him to the Stage 3 foods at dinner (probably just half a jar to start with). They are a little chunkier, and I know he needs to get used to the textures. I don't have any pics to update this week, hopefully I will get some this weekend.
