Sawyer's Alligator Birthday Party Inspiration

We have Sawyer's party all planned out! The big day is just around the corner on June 15th! I wanted to share a little bit of the inspiration for the party. You can see more if you follow me on Pinterest. Look on Sawyer's party board. See button on the right sidebar.

We are going to use navy chevron and lime green accents for the tables and decorations. I can't wait to see it all come together!

Official Kick-Off to Summer- Memorial Day Weekend 2013

Our little family spent the weekend with my family down in the low country in Bennett's Point, a little hole in the wall in the ACE Basin, near Edisto Island. We had a wonderful time boating, sunning, and hanging out!

Saturday: Bennett's Point to Otter Island
Sawyer was not a fan of the boat/life jacket the first day
Hanging out in the shady tent
Beach naps are the best!
Dinner on the creek - Family photo op
Gorgeous sunset over the marsh
Sunday: Bennett's Point to Edisto
He enjoyed the ride the second day
Having a snack on the dock
Once again, sacked out!
Sawyer learned to clap
Dinner Sunday night
We headed back early Monday morning to take Sawyer to the doctor for a rash that he had for several days. It turns out it was a reaction to some sunscreen that was used on him last week. He should clear up in a few days. We spent the rest of our Memorial Day Monday at home resting, doing the mountain of laundry we brought home, and tidying up the house. Overall, we had a fabulous weekend! We are looking forward to a quick weekend at Isle of Palms this weekend. Then, we will be in full gear for Blair's baby shower and Sawyer's birthday party!

Weight Watchers Wednesday- Week #2

I should have written this post yesterday! I am down one whole pound from when I started! Baby steps! I am still trying to gauge what i eat and how many points it is. I am also still trying to find my motivation for the gym. Since breaking my hand, I have been sore in the afternoons. I know my feet still work, so I need to get my hiney to the gym to at least walk on the treadmill.

11 Months + an Update

Geeez....I am slacking big time! Sawyer turned 11 months last Tuesday! I was out of the office 2 days last week, and we went to the Isle of Palms over the weekend. I figured I would just do a little update on everything going on with us lately.
11 months!
Crawling baby!
11 month stats & facts:

* Weight: 23 ish lbs.
* Length: 29 ish in.
* Wearing 9 month tops and bottoms, and 12 month one piece rompers and one piece outfits
* Wearing size 4 diapers
* Bottles: 7 am (8 oz), 1 pm (8 oz), and 7:30 pm (8 oz)--getting ready to cut out one bottle to sub for milk in a cup (probably midday)
* Naps: He usually sleeps a total of 3-4 hours during the day
* Nighttime sleep: Sawyer goes to bed around 8 pm and sleeps until 6:30 or 7 am.
* Breakfast: yogurt, oatmeal, or fruit (stage 3) 8:30 am
* Lunch, He has a stage 3 veggie (11:30 am)
* Dinner, He has either a jar veggie or dinner (stage 3), or diced table food (5:30 or 6 pm)
* Table food: Sawyer eats anything and everything we put in front of him.
* Snacks: Gerber puffs, Baby Mum Mums, yogurt melts, diced fruit, plain Cheerios
* Sippy Cup: Sawyer drinks water out of the cup--introducing milk soon.
* Sawyer has 8 teeth! 4 on the bottom and 4 on the top! Maybe getting more in the back. He will bite us if we try and check!
* Crawling!!! He started a few days before turning 11 months.

* Trying to pull up on everything!! He loves playing on the floor and bed. He doesn't want to be confined in the exersaucer for long amounts of time.
* Sawyer still sucks his index and middle fingers on his right hand, esp. when he is tired! He loves his lovies. He usually only has them in his crib, but sometimes he hangs on to it while being lifted out of the crib.

* He babbles all day long...dada, mama, guh, other 2 syllable combinations. Starting to say bye-bye-bye
* Sawyer's newest thing is to point at objects. He often points at overhead lights and fans. He actually uses his index finger too!
* Motor skills: He can pick up small objects like cheerios and other small food with his thumb and index finger. He has great fine motor skills! He will also roll/push a toy car on the floor.
* Baby proofing: Because our sweet little boy is now mobile, we have had to do a little baby proofing around the house. He has discovered the electrical outlets and Scotch's water bowl. We need to put baby gates at the top and bottom of the stairs as well. I'm sure we will think of more that needs to be done as we go along on this new adventure!

This past Friday afternoon, our plan was to pack up and head to the Isle of Palms for the weekend. Will had a masonic function to attend in the low country with some of his brothers. Us girls (and Sawyer) planned to do a little shopping on Saturday. Well, as we were packing up to leave town, I slammed my hand into the railing by our steps. Will thought my pinky finger was dislocated. We put ice on it and said we would go to the doctor if it got worse. So, we headed out of town as planned. Friday and Saturday, I kept ice on it as much as I could. It is hard tending to a busy 11 month old baby with an injured hand. Sunday when we got home, we went to the urgent care to get it looked at, because it wasn't getting any better. It was still swollen and bruised. I got x-rays done, and it turns out it is broken! The 5th metatarsal, which is right below my pinky finger on my right hand. They put me in a temporary wrap until I could get to an orthopedist. I am scheduled to go this afternoon to see the doc. Let's hope I don't have to get a hard cast! We have two more beach weekends scheduled and Sawyer's birthday party. Nevermind that it would be even more difficult to take care of Sawyer and other household chores with a hard cast.
Splish, Splash!
Despite my hand injury, we did have a really nice time at the beach. We had a wonderful meal with dear friends on Friday night at Coconut Joe's. Saturday, the girls took Sawyer shopping at the outlets while the boys did their thing. Sawyer got a chance to play in the baby pool Saturday afternoon. We cooked out Saturday while watching the All-Star race. We always enjoy time down at the coast with friends! Looking forward to this weekend at Bennett's Point for Memorial Day! Hopefully I won't be in a permanent cast!

****Update****
I had my appointment at Moore Orthopedic Clinic. I saw Greg, Dr. McFadden's PA. He was great, and very thorough. It turns out I have two little fractures in the 4th and 5th metacarpals. He put me in a velcro hand brace! No hard cast! I have to go back in 2 weeks for a follow-up and more x-rays. At least now I can shower and bathe Sawyer without too much of a hassle. However, I am suppose to wear the brace as much as possible, so I do start to heal.

Weight Watchers Wednesday- Week #1 complete

Nothing exciting to report this week. I have just been getting used to the Points Plus tracking system. I am learning more about portion sizes, and the points that correlate. My weight stayed about the same since last week. I think it will take a few weeks and some serious stick-to-it-ness for me to start losing. Hear's to hoping for good results!

A Week of Celebrations!

We started celebrating on Sunday, May 5th, and the fun continued all week to Sunday, May 12th. During that week, we had three birthdays and Mother's Day! My mom's birthday was May 5th, Will's mom's is May 7th, and Will's grandmother's is May 8th. We had dinner with my family on my mom's birthday.

Sawyer loves his SaSa!
We waited to celebrate Will's mom's birthday and Mother's Day together because we would all be at their house for lunch. We gave each of the grandmother's flowers for their birthdays, too! We called Will's Grandmommy in Florida and wished her well on her day!

We finished off the week with Mother's Day! My first Mother's Day was wonderful. Will got Sawyer up and took care of him and Scotch while I slept in. He cooked breakfast and washed all of the dishes! We went to church with Will's family and had a nice lunch with them, as well.

Hand print flowers that Sawyer made his grandmothers
Sunday afternoon, we came home and rested before going to spend time with my mom for Mother's Day. I actually got to take a nap! Hooray for an awesome hubby and baby who let me rest! After visiting with my family, we had a quite night at home. I finished off the most perfect Mother's Day with snuggles from my boy!

Speaking of the boy, and the big boy he is turning into right before my eyes... he crawled for the first time on Friday! He has been flipping and flopping and getting around just fine in his own special way for quite some time now. He finally connected the dots and got the crawling thing down pat! We are now full-swing in baby proofing mode to go with this new mobility!

Looking ahead to the next few weeks, we have three beach weekends in a row!! Can't wait to get out of town and into the sun!

Weight Watchers Wednesday

I have been giving some serious thought to my weight and appearance lately. I am not happy with how I look. I still have about 10 pounds to lose before getting back down to my pre-baby weight. I have been going to a kickboxing class regularly on Monday nights at my gym. I try to go to the gym at least one other day as well. That doesn't always usually happen! By the time I get off work at 5, I'm exhausted and I just want to go home and spend time with my boys. I have really enjoyed the kickboxing class though. I have gone 5 weeks in a row! It is a really good workout, but that alone is not enough. I also plan to walk in the neighborhood as well. I may end up doing that in the mornings before work, so it doesn't cut into my time with Sawyer and Will in the evenings. I know I need to eat better, too! Will and I have talked about starting to plan our weeknight dinners to cook at home. We attempted that this week. We did well Monday night, however, last night we were lazy and ordered Chinese food....not a good choice for either of us! We know we need to do better. Today, I took the plunge and joined Weight Watchers online. I got a three month subscription. I definitely need the accountability of tracking and measuring the foods I eat during the day. Hopefully, the combination of going to the gym more, walking, and eating healthier will help me shed these pesky pounds. Wish me luck!
